All I care about is that, yearly, a number of well-deserving football teams are left out of the field playing for the national title at the highest collegiate level (the FBS). Before we take a look at this year's college football play-off field, here's how the teams are chosen. The top four in the last of the rankings released in early December make up the play-off field. Close but no cigar honours went to Ohio State, Wisconsin and Southern Cal, ranked fifth to seventh. Each of the four play-off teams is definitely deserving.
